“I was tired of feeling like just another number in a system. The approach at New Hope was completely different—I felt like a true partner in my care. They listened, they educated me, and we built a plan together. It was the first time I felt empowered and understood, and that made all the difference in my journey to a clearer mind.”

FAQs
What is the benefit of a cash-pay model versus using my insurance?
Choosing a cash-pay model ensures your complete privacy and control over your health information. Your diagnosis and treatment details are not shared with any third-party insurance company, which gives you the freedom to pursue the care you need without a diagnosis becoming part of your permanent health record. It also eliminates the stress of pre-authorizations, denied claims, and surprise bills, offering you a clear, transparent, and streamlined path to wellness.
Is online psychiatric care as effective as in-person care?
Yes. Extensive research and clinical experience have shown that telepsychiatry is as effective as traditional in-person care for a wide range of mental health conditions. Our secure and convenient online platform allows for a comprehensive evaluation, ongoing medication management, and a strong therapeutic relationship—all from the privacy and comfort of your home.
How does the initial appointment and intake process work?
Our process is designed to be seamless and efficient. Once you book your first appointment, you will receive a link to our secure patient portal. There, you can privately complete all necessary intake forms online before our session. This ensures our time together is spent focused on your needs, not on paperwork.
Can a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) prescribe medication?
Yes. Nurse Practitioners have authority to prescribe and manage medications, provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, and diagnose mental health conditions. Many states allow for independent practice, but in North Carolina and South Carolina, PMHNPs practice under the supervision or collaboration of a physician (MD).
What if I need to be seen in person or have a crisis?
For your safety, our practice is designed for clients who can be effectively managed with telehealth. If an in-person evaluation is clinically necessary, we will refer you to a trusted colleague in your area. In the event of a psychiatric crisis or emergency, we have clear protocols and will provide you with a list of local emergency resources and crisis hotlines to ensure you get the immediate support you need.
